About
That’s Relatable explains one thing in terms of another. Ask for Grey’s Anatomy in terms of Manchester United, or inflation in terms of a round of golf, and you get a short, funny explanation that actually sticks. We call each one a relatable.
Why it exists
Most explanations fail because they are written for nobody in particular. A comparison to something you already know does the hard work for you: if you understand a football club’s transfer window, you already understand more about a long-running TV drama than you think. We wanted a place where those comparisons are collected, rated and easy to browse, rather than lost in a chat window.
How it is different from asking a chatbot
- It is a library. Every approved relatable has its own page, so the best ones are kept, linked together and easy to find again.
- People decide what is good. Members vote and react, and the leaderboard shows who is making the best relatables.
- A person reads them first. Nothing appears in the public library, the search index or the sitemap until it has been reviewed. See our editorial policy.
Written by AI, checked by people
Relatables are written by an AI language model using a fixed brief: about 300 words, an opening hook, specific comparisons and a closing line on where the analogy breaks down. We say so on every page. AI can get things wrong, so we ask you to flag anything inaccurate or unsuitable.
Who is behind it
That’s Relatable is an independent project run by the operator of thatsrelatable.app in the United Kingdom. You can reach us on the contact page.
