Passwords in terms of a toothbrush
Do you know that your password is just like a toothbrush you keep in your bathroom?
You use a toothbrush to keep your teeth clean and healthy every single morning. A password works in the exact same way for your computer, keeping all your secret games and stories safe from people who should not be looking at them. You hold onto your toothbrush tightly so nobody else can take it away from the sink. Similarly, you must hold onto your password and never give it to anyone, not even your friends or the postman.
Just like you need a different toothbrush for each person in your house, every secret account needs its own special password. If you shared one toothbrush with your whole family, it would be very messy and quite silly. Using the same password for everything is just like using one brush for your teeth, your hair and the muddy dog. It is much safer to pick a new word that only you know, like the name of your favourite teddy or a funny colour.
You should change your toothbrush every few months so it stays good at cleaning. Passwords need a change too, especially if you think a sneaky person might have seen you typing it on your keyboard. Keeping your password fresh and secret means your digital toys stay tucked away safely, just like a shiny smile after a good scrub. Now you can play your games without any worries at all.
Where the analogy breaks downA password does not get worn out or frayed if you use it for too long.
