What a black hole is in terms of the bottom of a school bag
A black hole is just like the very bottom of your messy school bag.
When you drop a pencil or a snack into your bag, it falls all the way down to the bottom corner. A black hole works the same way because it has a super strong pull that grabs everything nearby. Once something gets too close to the edge, it slides in and finds it impossible to jump back out again, just like a lost bit of lego.
The very middle of the bag is so crowded and squashed that nothing can move or see out. Even if you shine a bright torch inside, the light cannot get back out to show you where your missing maths homework went. Gravity acts like the fabric of the bag, stretching and pulling tight around all the mysterious junk hiding in the dark.
It is a very strange place where space and time get all tangled up like old shoelaces. Everything you put in there, from broken crayons to sandwich crusts, stays hidden forever in a big, invisible heap. It is the perfect place to keep secrets, but it makes finding your PE kit a complete disaster on a Monday morning.
Where the analogy breaks downA school bag can be emptied out if you turn it inside out, but a black hole will never let its contents leave.
