Fantasy Premier League scoring in terms of a school report card
Did you know that playing Fantasy Premier League is exactly like getting a big report card from your teacher?
Every week, your players get a score based on what they did in their match. A goal is a high mark, like getting a gold star for good handwriting, but a yellow card is a detention for talking in class. You check your score on a screen to see if you have done better than your friends. It feels just like waiting to see if you got the top mark in the class, or if you have been caught doodling during maths time again.
The manager of the whole team is like a headteacher who has to pick the best pupils for the school sports day. You have a small pot of pocket money to spend on your players, so you cannot just pick all the superstars. You have to find the clever ones who work hard but do not cost too much. If you pick a player who scores lots of goals, your team moves up the big list, just like when you get a special mention in front of the whole school assembly.
Sometimes your favourite player might get tired and not play well, which is like forgetting your homework on a Monday morning. You feel a bit sad, but then you look forward to the next week to try and get a better score. You keep checking your team to see if you need to swap anyone around, which is just like tidying up your desk to make sure you are ready for your next big test.
Where the analogy breaks downa school report does not let you swap out your maths teacher for a better one halfway through the term.
