Digestion in terms of a conveyor belt sushi restaurant
Eating food is just like sitting at a conveyor belt sushi restaurant where the plates never stop coming.
Your mouth is the busy front door where you greet the chefs. You use your teeth to chop the big plates into tiny, easy bites so they can travel along the belt. Your tongue is the helpful waiter who pushes the food to the back of your throat, making sure every bite starts its long trip down the hallway of your tummy.
Inside your tummy, things get very bubbly and noisy. Your stomach acts like a big, warm kitchen filled with special liquids that break the food down into even smaller pieces. It churns everything round and round, just like a chef spinning a salad, so that all the goodness inside the food can be taken out to give you energy to play in the park.
Finally, the leftovers that your body does not need slide down to the end of the line. This is like the dirty plates being collected at the end of the restaurant. Your body says goodbye to these scraps when you go to the toilet, keeping your tummy clean and ready for your next big meal. It is a very busy job that happens all day long, even while you are fast asleep dreaming of your favourite snacks.
Where the analogy breaks downthe restaurant needs the customer to pay the bill, but your body actually pays you in energy.
